Mom's 60th birthday celebration!

I thought I better get this posted before February is over.....and that leaves me one day! Yikes, can't believe how fast time flies by. I always say that but really I think it's going by faster daily. That is why whenever there is an opportunity, spending time with those you truly cherish such as family and close friends that are near and dear must take precedence! My mom's 60th birthday was one of those occasions...I put the word out to all of my mom's side of the family, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and my nana of course. I pulled out all the stops ordering a professional custom cake creation courtsey of Kirsty Punshon from Creative Cakes and had some mouth watering platters delivered from Sugar Mountain Catering. With these things taken care of, I was able to sit back and enjoy the company of my family which makes the day even more special and memorable. We had most of our family available to come out as far as the Vancouver Island, we were missing a few cousins and an Uncle due to work schedules and traveling from back East. I think the day was celebrated magnificently and mom is sure to remember her 60th as a truly special day.
A very big THANKYOU to my wonderful family for making this such a success....I love you!
Here is the birthday girl (left) with her two big sisters. My auntie Lorrie and auntie Bev. XO

I asked Kirsty to create a cake for my mom that represented who she was and her passion that truly makes her happy. Aside from her kids and grandkids as her greatest passion....my mom is an outstanding artist. She is primarily a watercolor artist but is always fascinated with any and all elements of creativity. I can definitly thank her for my creative, artistic upbringing. I had my daughter Paige create the "Happy Birthday" banner to top the cake. Butterflies & rainbows....isn't that what all 6 year old girls consider "happy"??
And yes, this cake was as delicious as it was beautiful!

Here is my hubby Trev, doing his part for the party. He is BBQing up the Chipotle Chicken Skewers delivered from Sugar Mountain Catering. Everything was already precooked and we just had to throw a few things in the oven or BBQ to warm them up. Omg....these were my favorite.....delish! We also had sweet potatoe latkes, curried chicken endive and Thai spring rolls.

Floral arrangements were done by me....and Costco. They have great prices on floral, I just picked a couple different flowers looking for a soft feminine feel. Mom just called me today to tell me her pink tulips are still going strong!

I included framed pictures of my mom from when she was a baby, child and teenager. These were set up along the main buffet table. I was also sure to include images of my Grandfather who has passed but would have loved to be included in his baby girls 60th. He was here is spirit ~ I just know it!

Papa (my dad) and his two youngest grandkids. Paige and my nephew Keynan only 9 months age difference between these two. They are like siblings and best friends! Apparently there is some intense conversation about a pretzel...

The beautiful Cairns girls. This is my mom (left) her two sisters and their mom.....my nana. Lookin good ladies :)

This is a four generation image. We have my Nana, mom, me and my daughter. My two Aunts are here, but unfortuately we didn't have their daughters here (working and back East) but I will try to get something together this summer where everyone can make it!! Trev took this pic, good job Honey!

The whole lot.

Mom gets some help opening her gifts from her great-nephew, Roman!

Grace | 3 month photographer | Home studio, Delta

Sweet Grace...she came to my home studio to get some 3 month photos taken. She was very bright eyed and quite happily attached to her soft pink blankie for most of the shoot. She did start to tucker out and near the end decided to take a nap. So we got the best of both worlds with Grace, some happy and very talkative wakeful images and then some snuggly sleepy images. She was wearing a beautiful glass bead bracelet that was her mommy's when she was just a baby. I love the sentimental value of these precious keepsakes and this bracelet was gorgeous. Grace and her family were a real pleasure to have in the studio!
Here is her sneak peek.

Jayden | Newborn photographer | Vancouver, BC

Welcome Jayden to the blog. This little cutie was super easy to shoot! His home downtown Vancouver was nice and toasty warm with winter sun shining through the window. This was great because I didn't need any heaters to keep this baby sleepy ~ he was happy to just snooze the session away until the very end when he opened his bright little eyes for my camera. Because this was an on location session with alot of gear for me to bring I enlisted the help of my hubby and our daughter Paige. Yup, my 6 year old had to haul some props and blankets in too :) While I did my photography stuff, dad took Paigey for a roller blade along the downtown streets of Robson and Albneri all the way to the Stanley Park Seawall and then back again. With only one major wipeout from Trev (while crossing the road in front of alot of people) Paige had to do a little spin backwards and while laughing all the way helped her old daddy up. My two lovely assistants were paid in food and a view ~ Milestones on Robson ~ Yummmmmmm. It was such a fun day for everyone and I am again so blessed to meet this wonderful new family...thankyou Sandra & Jake for welcoming me into your home and allowing me to capture your beautiful Jayden! You can catch his sneak peek here.

Here is the newborn announcement card that Sandra & I collaberated on. This was used for a welcoming dinner for Jayden and put on each of the tables.
Uh-huh, I'm learning some new languages in this profession :)
Chinese & English were used on the announcement.

Kaiden | Newborn {Sneak Peek} | Landner, BC

And baby makes SIX. This beautiful family welcomes their fourth child, little baby Kaiden. He is going to be in good hand with his two older brothers and a big sister that is just so helpful with anything to do with baby. Here is his Sneak Peek at only 5 days new.

Tyson | Newborn {sneak peek} | Studio

Oh boy, have I had a week! It all started last Sunday with my oldest son waking up with a high temp and the worst cough! By Monday night my youngest had it and by Wednesday my middle child had it. All week I felt like nurse Nikki.....checking fevers which hit the roof every four hours, administering Tylenol or Advil or Cough syrup. Making sure there are plenty of fluids going down as solid food wasn't appealing to anyone. Keep in mind througout all my own childrens' illness, I am still running a daycare with 5 other children that need my attention and care. CRAZY, right?? At least this weekend everyone's fever seemed to break and we have gone two whole days without meds...yeah! I have been able to finally hit the computer and work on several newborn sessions. I was able to finish off two full sessions and get the sneak peeks done for the other two. So, we will start off with Tyson's sneak peek ~ he is about a month old in these images but still so tiny as he came very early and suprised mom & dad. Dad had to bring some manly props for his son to pose by. He brought along his signed football helmet and trophy. I loved the idea....Tyson's mommy?? Not so much :) Totally adorable!

Sheila & Ryan | Expecting | Delta, Home Studio

Now this is a shower gift....Sheila's good friend Christine contacted me regarding a photo session gift certificate for Sheila. She wanted to give her friend something special that she could cherish forever. I told her about my Bump n' Baby package which entitled Sheila to an Expecting session and then the Newborn session once the baby makes his/her arrival. Christine thought this was the perfect gift! The fabulous couple came to my home studio for their first session and we had lots of fun....trying out some new creative poses I knew this was the couple to ROCK it out! Totally gorgeous....loved these guys. Check out their sneak peek here. As I post this, I am getting ready to pack up and meet their new little bundle of joy who is just 5 days old today. Stay tuned for his sneak peek in the coming week. If you know of someone who would love a photo session and have a special occasion coming up.....
contact me for a custom gift certificate!

the Hyatts' | Family Photographer | Surrey BC

Another seriously sweet family that I had the pleasure of shooting. Meet the Hyatts' the little guy had some trouble getting his smile to come out and play in the beginning, but by the end of the shoot he was flashing his dimples without any coaxing. We met at one of my favourite locations the Stewart Farmhouse where it was still fairly chilly. The kids did great even took off their jackets for a few of the images....and mom & dad kept me loaded up with fruit gummies for cooperative kids!
It was really great capturing your family moments ~ thanks for sharing....
Check out their sneak peek here
