Vintage Baby!

So this was my attempt at Vintage Photoshoot. I found some awesome finds at the local flea market and second hand stores. The little red bike was my gem and I worked around that, it is over 30 years old and with a fresh coat of paint it was perfect for what I had in mind. The kids loved it, and I had so much fun clickin' away! On another note this is my last day of work, the family and I are headed off for our summer vacation. Going to Whistler, B.C. and going to check out some bungee jumping.....lord help me! There is so many things to do and see in the great outdoors when you visit Whistler, I'll be coming home with some great photos. Stay tuned :)

Saturday

I ♥ my clients!

Somedays it's the little thoughtful gestures that people think of that make it all worth while! Thankyou so much Brittney!!

Just having fun. Went vintage shopping and picked up some super cute props! Then went to town playing around with it. Here is little Linkoln ~ one of my favourite models. Cutie Pie.

Thursday

Brittney & Korey | Couples Session | New West, B.C.

If you love your "fur babies" they way these two do, you're going to LOVE checking this post out! I have known Brittney since she was in grade school. I was so happy when she contacted me to request a family photos session with her boyfriend & their two puppies. They had never had professional photos done of themselves or the dogs. We figured a nice park like setting would be good then the dogs could run off and get a break when they needed to. I found out later that these are not just any dogs, but acting dogs! They both have second call backs for a commercial and a movie. Well, I had to get the best headshots possible of these pups to add to their portfolio. They were the most beautiful, well behaved dogs I have ever known. I loved working with them and wish them all the success in the future. If they make it in a movie we'll be first in line with the kids for tickets and popcorn!
Meet Naiah & Kane.....

And this is their most adorable owners, Brit and Korey. So cute!

Here's the happy family.....fur babies and all. As you can see these guys were a blast to work with ;)

Thursday

Paige | The Garden Series.

I thought it would be fun to post a little blog story about my garden & my daughter. As long as I can remember we always had a veggie patch in our backyard growing up. The summer would come and with it a portion of dinner was picked from the garden. My brother and I would race out to the yard with our bowls and start collecting sugar snap peas, sweet cherry tomatoes and tender young zucchini. We would admire our fresh produce as we washed it and helped mom prep it for the family meal. When I finally had my own home one of the first things I planned out was my veggie patch. With every year the little patch of soil has gotten bigger. My kids love it when I ask them to head down to the garden and pick us some dinner! Big heads of fresh lettuce, sweet peppers, beans and peas. After we have eaten and the dishes are done, I'll head out to the back porch and see my daughter in the garden. It's early evening when the sun is starting to cool, but the soil is still warm. She will have the garden hoe or rake in hand, with her dirty little bare feet. She won't know I'm watching with a smile on my face as she hums a little tune and bends down to fix an onion top that has fallen over. She reminds me of myself and I feel my heart swell; I have passed on to her what my mom has passed on to me. To find beauty and joy in the simplest of life's pleasures......watching your garden grow :)

Tuesday

Wedding Stalker

Anyone who knows me well, knows how much I love spotting a wedding in progress. Usually coming out of a church or getting into a limo or if luck would have it in the park getting their formal portraits done! I can't help it...it draws me...I can't look away. Obsessive? Yup. Compulsive? You bet. Slightly crazy? Well, crazy can be good, can't it? Passionate?? It's my downfall! I love to watch and learn how the wedding photographers move from pose to pose, capturing the whole wedding party jumping in the air to just the bride & groom gazing into each others eyes like there is no one else around. Unless of course, they spot me, off behind a tree or bush trying not to look like a "stalker" :) If time allows I will casually follow the wedding party around and get completely lost in the photography end of it all.
I know, nutso.
This past Saturday was the jackpot! Three, count em, Three weddings in full portrait progress! The day started out innocently enough, the hubby & I decide to check out the Pioneer Days with our daughter at the Stewert Historic Farm and as soon as we pull in we spot a limo and a bride. I was so excited, my hubby knew what to do....gave me a kiss and took Paige off to check things out. He knew where I would be.... the official wedding paparazzi.
Oh don't get me wrong I still took breaks and checked in with Trev & Paige. I got to watch her milk a fake cow, hand wash some clothes in an old washing bin and play cupcake walk. She won four cupcakes. Quite the contrast to the stunning brides and bridesmaids walking past us. Can't help it...got to follow. I'll check in with these two again later.
Below are the photos I was discreetly taking....hey I wasn't the only one, there was a group of tourists snapping away too. So I just joined right in. There must be a support group out there for people like me, I need help. lol

It was hot and the bride and her maids were taking a break in the shade while the groom and his men were getting their photos done. So cute!

Thursday

Carley|Headshot Session|Delta, B.C.

It feels like it has been forever since I posted something on my blog! I guess that's what happens when the family packs up and takes off on a camping trip. Canada Day long weekend was spent with good friends and campfires. I made a conscious effort to try not to do anything technical....my laptop only came out once. Not too bad. My camera on the other hand....well that's where it was most of the time, in my hand! Those pics will be coming on a later post. For right now, here is the rest of the photo session I did for Carley. She is an actress among many other talents like figure skating, Kung Fu, and an amazing tap dancer! You would think this girl had some bragging rights ~ but she is one of sweetest, most polite and kindest little girls I know. She also has the longest hair out of any other girls I know! Check out these latest additions to her Casting Workbook.

Just for fun :)
